Clean the concrete posts and give them a fresh coat of paint for a neat finish
Place an insert into the groove of each concrete post, on both sides.
Slot the bottom rail in between the two inserts so it sits on top of your concrete gravel board, spanning the gap between the posts.
Fit the first fence board into the bottom rail with the groove facing down, then stack the remaining boards on top of it.
Fit the H-channel on top of the fence to connect to the trellis topper.
Push an L-shaped clip into each end of the top rail, then lower the top rail onto the stack of fence boards (or the trellis topper, for trellis kits) so the clips drop down into the inserts.
(Curved trellis only) – Skip this step, as the top rail is flat and won't sit on a curved trellis.
Using self-drilling screws, screw through each L-shaped clip into the insert below it.
There's no top rail to secure. Instead, screw one side of the L-shaped clip directly onto the trellis with an extra screw, then screw the other side of the clip into the insert.
apply a bead of silicone glue and fix the caps onto the top of the inserts.
1. Measure and mark the post centres according to your panel width, keeping spacing even.
2. Run a taut string line between stakes to keep the run straight.
3. Mark each post position clearly on the hard surface (paving, concrete or tarmac) before drilling.
1. Hold the mounting plate at each marked position, checking it's square to the string line.
2. Mark the 4 bolt-hole positions through the plate onto the surface below.
3. Drill each hole to the diameter and depth specified for your expansion bolts, then clear away any dust or debris.
1. Tap an expansion bolt into each drilled hole until it sits flush with the surface.
2. Place the mounting plate over the 4 bolts.
3. Fit the washers and nuts, then tighten evenly in a diagonal sequence to draw the plate down flat and secure.
1. Slot the aluminium post onto the mounting plate.
2. Fix the post to the plate using the screws or bolts supplied for that joint.
3. Check the post is plumb (vertical) on all sides with a spirit level before moving on.
1. Set every post along the run first.
2. Check the spacing and alignment between posts before moving on.
1. Slot the bottom rail between the post grooves at ground level.
2. Make sure it is seated level between the two posts.
1. Slide the first composite board groove-down into the bottom rail.
2. Continue stacking boards upward, sliding each edge into the post channel as you go.
3. Apply silicone to board/rail joints if desired.
1. Fit the H-channel on top of the final fence board.
2. This connects the panel to the trellis topper.
3. Skip this step if your kit has no trellis topper.
1. Fit the L-clips into the top rail ends — long leg inserted horizontally into the rail, short leg pointing upward.
2. Lower the top rail onto the boards (or trellis topper).
1. Screw through the L-clips into the post channel to secure the top rail.
2. For curved trellis kits, screw one side of the L-clip onto the trellis with an extra screw, then screw the other side into the post.
1. Fit the caps directly onto the tops of the aluminium posts.
2. No glue or silicone is needed — the caps press on securely by themselves.
